What’s on in the Lake District this September?

As you explore Windermere and the surrounding areas, you’ll soon discover the Lake District have plenty of popular events coming up. Below are a selection of festivals and other shows that are worthy of a visit during your spa break at our Aphrodites Boutique Suites.

4th and 5th September – Holker Chili Fest

No matter the weather, you can expect to feel the heat at Holker Hall and Gardens with a festival dedicated to all thing’s chilli related. Entry is only £5 per person and not only is it a fun day out, but it’s an excuse to explore the rest of the Holker Estate while you’re at it.

5th September – Windermere Wild Swim

It may be a little late to get training for the Windermere Epic Swim (see below) but if you fancied giving it a go, this is a great introduction. Booking in advance is essential, however, the session comes with a fully qualified guide. As such giving you the opportunity to join both novice and expert swimmers alike, in one of the most beautiful of settings.

8th and 9th September – Westmorland County Show

The Lake District has seen its fair amount of annual horticultural and country shows cancelled during the past 18 months. However, this September the Westmorland County Show is one of those still standing.  As such, giving you the ideal look at local life during your mid-week break.

10th September – Keswick Mountain Festival

The Keswick Mountain Festival always has it all, from live music to inspiring films and gruelling cross-country triathlons. It’s one you can challenge yourself to compete or simply soak up the atmosphere of being a part of something special.

18th September – Epic Lakes Swim

Epic Events run a number of sporting events within the local region, as well as supporting their very own “Epic Kidz” charity. As for swimming in Lake Windermere, the day features a 500m event alongside the more hardcore 1 mile and 5km courses. Whichever you decide to join, you’ll be in need of your hot tub spa suite by the end of it!
