What’s on in Windermere, March 2022

March 2022

Are you taking a spa break in Windermere during March 2022? Then here’s a brief guide to what’s on in the Lake District next month, featuring some selected highlights. Although when you’re staying in a hot tub spa suite, you might not want to leave!

What’s on in Windermere and Cumbria, March 2022

As well as the usual main attractions, pubs, restaurants and other delights, there are a number of less obvious things to do next month. Below, we take a look at a few of them.

Blackwell Spring Craft Fair

There’s no place better to be for the start of Spring than a visit to the Lake District. There are so many symbolic views, from the colourful bluebells and daffodils to newborn Herdwick lambs. Yet, it’s also a time to celebrate the local talent and as such the 5th and 6th March 2022 feature handmade items at Blackwell’s annual craft fair.

As a side note, Blackwell Arts and Craft centre is also a beautiful spot for lunch. Complete with stunning views over the Windermere countryside.

The Dark Sky Above us

While the evenings may start to get lighter, after dark remains somewhat special. Catch the end of the Cumbria Dark Skies festival, for an evening of photography, talks and presentations. It’s also an opportunity to learn all about astrology or experience “forest bathing” in Grizedale.

Although, the latter in no way compares to bathing in a private hot tub spa suite!

Dark Sky Canoeing

Continuing within the Dark Skies festival is a particular event that combines one of Windermere’s popular activities with a night out. Saturday 5th March 2022 is an opportunity to take to the water, starting at sunset as participants paddle into the evening.

Along the way, your guide will point out constellations, stars and planets. Please contact organisers Path to Adventure for further details.

Retro Music Weekend

Weekend commencing 11th March 2022 is the Stanwix Park Retro Music Festival. It may not be as high-brow as some of the region’s classical or operatic events, but it certainly makes for a great night out.

Featuring everything from rockabilly to the latest pop bangers, one of the highlights has to be Mr Ben Thompson. Crowned 2018 Ultimate Elvis Artist Tribute Champion and officially endorsed by Elvis Presley Enterprises themselves.

Keswick Film Festival

The end of the month brings the return of the prestigious Keswick Film Festival. It’s most definitely considered one of the Lakes highlights and is well-respected within the industry. Events such as these took a hit during the pandemic, but the Keswick Film Festival returns with a fantastic line-up of guest directors.

It’s also worth noting the weekend includes the Osprey Short Film Awards, which has kicked-started the career of many a film writer.
