September in the Lake District

Theatre by the Lakes
Although not restricted to just September, some of this year’s performances are just too good not to mention. The Rise and Fall of Little Voice, Ladykillers and the Ocean Film Festival World Tour all showing during September in the Lake District.
Lakes Alive
Running from the 6th to 8th September, Lakes Alive is an annual event that showcases the best in art, music and theatre. It is held at a number of locations, albeit mainly within Kendal and the surrounding areas. There’s everything from interactive walks to classical concerts and art installations within the park.
Westmorland County Show
Up there with all the other great agricultural shows held in the Lake District and throughout the country. The Westmorland County Show is one that is fairly late in the season. What’s more is it take place on Thursday 12th September, perfect for those on a mid-week package break in the Lake District. Expect the best in show from local farmers parading their livestock, along with an array of market stalls and demonstrations.
Epic Lakes Swim
Fancy taking part in some wild swimming in Windemere? There’s still time to enter, as the closing date is right until the last minute. The swim itself happening on the 15th September, where experienced outdoor swimmers cover distances ranging from 500 meters up to a gruelling 5km race.
Taste Cumbria
As with all Taste Cumbria events, 28th and 29th September in Cockermouth really is set to deliver something for all tastes. This year, however, is set to be something even more spectacular. As Taste Cumbria teams up with both the Northbound music festival, as well as introducing the “Makers Market”. The latter giving some of the smaller artisan businesses the chance to advertise alongside the more well-known brands.
