Dip in the Dark
Friday 4th October. With under 2 weeks to go there’s still time to book a position at this year’s Dip in the Dark. Taking place in the waters of Lake Windermere, just a short walk from our spa hotel in the Lake District. While the 250 meter lap is a challenge at the best of times, wild swimming at night is a whole different environment.
Lakes International Comic Art Festival
Friday 11th October to Sunday 13th October. This annual event during October in the Lake District is hosted largely by the Brewery Arts Centre in Kendal. Attracting artists representing comic books and comic art from all over the world, this is a fascinating insight into a range of styles and genres.
Wasdale Head Show & Shepherd’s Meet
Saturday 12th October. Agricultural and country shows can be found across the Lake District, with many going back 100’s of years. The Wasdale Head Show & Shepherd’s Meet has come a long way since being held in “the chicken field”. The even includes best in shows, from sheep to beards, along with hound trailing and fell racing.
Halloween Ghost Train – Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway
Friday 25th October to Saturday 26th October. Travelling around the Lake District by train is a wonderful experience at any time of year. However, if you fancy doing something a little bit different board the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway this Halloween. It’s a time when not only will you get to see some beautiful scenery, but there may be one or two ghosts along the way.
Halloween Week at Muncaster Castle
Friday 25th October to Saturday 2nd November. Another must this October in the Lake District if you’re a fan of Halloween is to visit Muncaster Castle. It’s one of Cumbria’s most popular attractions at the best of times. In particular, due to being one of the UK’s most haunted castles. Although if the ghosts don’t come out on their own, the weeks events have plenty of entertainment in store.
