May in Windermere, Lake District

May in Windermere

As we reach the first of two May bank holidays, it’s hard to believe we’re already a 3rd of the way through the year. With another 10 months to go, there’s still time to consider booking a spa package break in the Lake District before the year’s out.

Meanwhile, May in Windermere is a busy time in particular for mother nature. As flowers have started to blossom with fields of bluebells and changing leaves within the trees created a blanket of colour. Then there’s the newborn Herdwick lambs, native to the Lake District, whereby the baby sheep are learning to skip across the beautiful countryside.

What’s the Weather Forecast for May?

Under normal circumstances, May is a wonderful time of year to get out and about ready to explore the beautiful landscape. The sun is currently shining and the weather for May in Windermere has certainly got off to a rather nice start.

As always, the unpredictable British weather always plays it part in a package break in the Lake District. So whenever you plan to visit, it’s always worth packing a jacket just in case.

After all the forecast for May continues to have its ups and downs. Despite the odd shower expected mid-month, the latter part of May as it stands is looking brighter and a lot more settled.

May Bank Holiday Break in Windermere

This coming bank holiday in the Lake District is due to be a quiet one. However, there’s still hope of further developments over the coming weeks. As such a May bank holiday break in Windermere at the end of the month isn’t completely out of the question.

This time of year isn’t as busy as the peak season of summer anyway. Although while the Lake District expects fewer visitors, the lack of people certainly has its advantages. Normally it means fewer cars on the road and public transport isn’t overcrowded when visiting is permitted.

Providing the weather is on your side, then the Lake Cruises pass over tranquil waters taking fewer passengers. While early morning walks are a breath of fresh air as you can hear the birds sing in the distance. It’s also a good time to visit the National Parks public gardens. As they are always well-maintained in the build-up to the May Bank Holiday weekend.

All of which means a May bank holiday break in Windermere is as relaxing as your very own spa suite.
