Walks near Coniston, Lake District
Black Crag
The first of our walks near Coniston starts just west of Ambleside. It covers a distance just under 8 miles, with amazing views over Coniston and Lake Windermere. This particular route is designed to return you back to the car park at Yew Tree Tarn Lake. It’s also one to make a day of it, as the complete route should take approximately 5 hours, although you’ll want to stop along the way.
Coppermine’s Circular
As with many walks near Coniston, they are often circular routes, making it easier to plan as you already know where you’re starting from. This is a relatively easy walking route around one of the most popular areas in Coniston. You only need around 2 or 3 hours to cover the walk, however, it takes in the impressive viewpoints of the Old Man of Coniston and Swirl How along the way.
Grizedale Forest

This is a great walk to combine a bit of personal fitness with a well-deserved pint or glass of wine. As although you will be among the waterfalls of Church Beck and fells of Coppermine’s Valley, you’re still only a stone’s throw away from several country pubs.
Yew Tree Farm to Tarn Hows
