Things to do in the Lake District this August
As for this year, like many tourist destinations, the Lake District saw a number of events and festivals cancelled due to Covid-19. However, August 2021 is looking particularly positive, with a host of activities making their returning.
While there are a number of other events taking place, many of which still to be announced, here are a few popular favourites.
Lake District Summer Music Festival
Throughout the first week of the month, the Lake District Summer Music Festival presents an array of live performances. This is one for fans of classical and chamber music, with many talented musicians set to take to the stage.
Hawkshead Show – 24th August 2021
While the Hawkshead Show are operating on a smaller scale this year, the prizes are just as prestigious. This year the event will focus purely on the horticultural side of things, with an aim to raise funds to return as normal in the near future.
The Ennerdale Show – 25th August 2021
If you’d like to experience a traditional day out in the Lake District, the Ennerdale Show has been ongoing for generations. Celebrating the glorious countryside with it’s annual fell race, as well as Westmorland wrestling.
Keswick Agricultural Show – 30th August 2021 (tbc)
Those of you booking an August spa break over the bank holiday weekend may be interested in a day out to Keswick. Just a short drive away and you can visit one of the regions largest agricultural shows. Although, please keep an eye on local listings as this one is yet to be confirmed.
Solfest – Music and Arts Festival
While a number of music festivals have been forced to cancel this year, Solfest is still standing. Taking place over 4 days at the end of the month, the line-up is as impressive as any of its competitors. Headlined by the likes of Razorlight and Maximo Park.
