In particular, Grasmere Sports taking place on Sunday 25th August 2019. The annual event now enters its 169th year and remains full of tradition. As well as Cumberland & Westmorland Wrestling and cross-country Fell Running, there are events for those with 4 legs within the Hound Trails.
In keeping with the 4 legs, albeit on a larger scale, Cartmel Cup Day plays host to one of the biggest dates on the horse racing calendar. Saturday 24th August 2019 will feature several races, the first starting at 2.10pm through to 5.35pm in the evening. August Bank Holiday Monday then closes the racing season, albeit with a bit more of a relaxed atmosphere.
