April in the Lake District

April in the Lake District

Spring is a wonderful time of year, with April in the Lake District a wash of colourful flowers and freshly blossomed trees.

Visiting the Lake District in April

While the Easter holidays may be busy with children on their school break, you can escape it all with a spa break in Windermere. Our spa suites and hot tubs offer a taste of luxury, away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Outside of the school holidays, the Lake District is fairly peaceful throughout April. Being a third of a way through the year, April in the Lake District is also the right time for a well-deserved break. While you can also make the most of the extended Easter weekend.

Things to do in April in the Lake District

It will come as no surprise that April in the Lake District is very much about the Easter weekend break. Although, that’s not to say your time away has to be all about Good Friday through to Easter Monday.

Having said that, it is, of course, a time to enjoy spending time with family and friends. So, if you’re on a spa break in Windermere, you can have lots of child-related fun.

Including reliving your youth at the World of Beatrix Potter! Where there’s also face painting, Easter egg hunts and the chance to meet Peter Rabbit himself. One of the most popular attractions in Cumbria is that of Muncaster Castle.

As such, the castle is always going to be a fantastic day out, no matter what time of year. However, if you are looking for something to do with children, there are lots of special events taking place with the grounds during the Easter period.

If you’re visiting Cumbria for a mid-week break, then escape Easter altogether and enjoy the local attractions during their quieter periods. Take an early morning boat ride and you’re spoilt for choice from Windermere Lake Cruises to the Steam Yacht Gondola in Coniston.

Elsewhere, the Keswick market takes place every Thursday or you sample local ales on a brewery tour at Jennings Brewery in Cockermouth.

There are also a number of organised walks to help explore the many hiking routes across Cumbria. During the day you can take in the amazing scenery, while the RSPB have guided badger walks in Penrith. While the Sizergh Spring Adventure takes place in nearby Kendal.
